What is DELFI®?

DELFI is a developmental course for parents and their babies.

DELFI is an abbreviation and means:

Dthink

Edevelop

Lseven

Fcool

Iindividual

Together with the course leader, parents experience their babies' first year. From about six weeks until the end of the 12th month, the babies experience a special time of love and bonding with mom, dad, or grandma/grandpa.

The certified DELFI course instructor has already acquired a relevant basic profession before completing the training. Many are educators, occupational or physical therapists, babywearing or breastfeeding consultants, etc.

The DELFI concept of Catholic and Protestant family education centers is based on scientific findings primarily from early biographical and prenatal research, therapeutic concepts of early intervention, findings from the neurobiology of attachment, knowledge of current psycho-neuroimmunology, attachment and autonomy research, concepts of group development, and competencies of infants and parents.

DELFI's work is based on a Christian view of humanity, characterized by mutual respect and appreciation, as well as patience for the developmental potential of each individual.

The focus is on the bond between parents and children. The course leader provides individual support to the babies according to their developmental stage. There is no formal "promotion" or "enrichment" in the traditional sense, because, true to the saying "grass doesn't grow faster if you pull on it," babies don't need any kind of "enrichment.".

Besides plenty of singing, the courses focus on mindfulness, love, touch, and everyday interaction with the baby. Parents can connect with each other, and lasting friendships often develop.

*Since no male course instructors are known, I am using the female term for a course instructor here.
