Birth preparation course – BellyBasics®

Online

Whether you're hoping for a cesarean section or planning a home birth, everyone is welcome in my course. I offer a holistic birth and parenting preparation course with open dialogue on taboo topics. I want to take the first step with you towards a self-determined birth and parenthood, strengthen your wishes, and support you through your fears and worries.

The pregnancy test is (finally) positive and the anticipation is immense. You're totally relaxed, and then it happens. The first horror story about how awful childbirth is, how exhausting the newborn period is...

The first questions arise. And so does the next (usually unsolicited) opinion about what pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period should be like. And the relaxed anticipation turns into fear, stress, and uncertainty.

And it is precisely these fears, questions and uncertainties that I want to address in my course, using scientifically sound information and exercises (tested by myself and many other mothers).

Here's a little spoiler: Childbirth and life with a newborn rarely resembles what we see in advertisements and films.

Here's what you can expect in my childbirth preparation course:

Available as a face-to-face or online course

Theory illustrated through many practical exercises

Includes handouts for each module as well as various checklists (e.g., initial equipment, hospital bag)

Networking and exchange with other (expectant) parents

You will receive scientifically sound information to help you make informed decisions during pregnancy, childbirth, and later in the baby's first year.

The course is divided into 6 modules:

  • Relaxation during pregnancy, relief from discomfort (symphysis pain, back pain) using a baby carrier, affirmations

  • Birth, birth support, rebozo, relaxation during birth and birth-related questions

  • Birth plans for you and the hospital, hospital bag, strengthening self-efficacy

  • Bonding, postpartum period, initial equipment

  • Breastfeeding and formula feeding, baby sleep, babywearing, understanding your baby's language

  • Handling, picking up, diapering, infant care

Even after the course, you're not on your own. I'll still be there for you if you have any questions and I'm happy to support you (e.g., by helping you get in touch with a lactation consultant).

Are you already quite far along in your pregnancy but still want all the information? Feel free to write to me and we'll find a solution!

Should you have any further questions about the course, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Welcome!
I'm so glad you found me!

My name is Diana, I was born in 1993 and I am a mother of two wonderful girls.

After the birth of my first daughter, I started asking myself why no one tells you what the days, weeks, and months after your precious little one arrives can really be like. Why doesn't anyone tell you that breastfeeding is only partially intuitive and that you should actually prepare for it? Why doesn't anyone mention that babies speak an international language, so in most cases you know immediately why they're crying? And why doesn't anyone shout from the rooftops that a strong early childhood bond can even reduce the risk of common health problems?

During my pregnancy, I had a clear picture in my mind of what kind of mother I wanted to be. "My baby should learn to sleep in its own bed right away" or "I'll breastfeed for a maximum of six months, and then that's it" were just two of the things I naively and, unfortunately, quite uninformedly said at the baby shower. Luckily, I realized in time how distorted my thoughts and my supposed knowledge had been by society, my professional experience, and even my own childhood.

Having experienced firsthand during my last birth (a self-determined and peaceful experience) what a difference it can make to be well-informed as you embark on this new chapter of life, I feel compelled to convey to as many (expectant) parents as possible that things can be different. That the bonding period can be beautiful despite sleep deprivation. That later on, when it comes to introducing solids, for example, strict plans aren't necessary. And that it's okay to sometimes just be "good enough.".

All of this has led me to want to share my knowledge and experience with other parents.

I offer these courses:

– Belly-Basics® – Childbirth Preparation Course
– Baby massage (QEKK-certified instructor)

I look forward to you!
