Belly Binding
The postpartum ritual of belly binding is a tradition from Malaysia. It is a healing and closure ritual that helps you and your body to stabilize the abdominal area and accept the changes after pregnancy.
A soft cloth, artfully tied, wraps around your stomach and torso area.
The cloth is approximately 20 meters long and is tied with many small knots from the pubic bone to the chest.
This binding method does not compress your stomach, like conventional support belts, but rather it wraps around it and adapts to the needs of your stomach each time.
This will support your postpartum recovery and your postpartum bleeding.
While your belly is bound, you should rest or lie down as much as possible and avoid strenuous activities. Use this time consciously for yourself. The binding is done daily for up to 30 days after birth.
In the case of a cesarean section or other contraindications, it may be necessary to wait 4 to 6 weeks after birth before using sanitary pads.
This ritual includes two appointments plus follow-up support. I'll show you the wrap and how to tie it, and I'll visit you again at the end of the 30 days. In the meantime, you'll receive follow-up support via Signal or phone.
