Online – Systemic family counseling, attachment- and relationship-oriented
Online
What do you actually wish for yourselves as a family?
Perhaps you can't quite put your finger on it right now, and you just notice that your daily routine no longer feels good and drains more energy than it gives you. Or, others tell you that you need to be firmer, that you're too lenient because your child isn't "functioning" the way others expect. This makes you start to doubt yourself and wonder if there might be some truth to it, even though you consciously chose a different parenting style?
The topics addressed in family counseling are as diverse as the people themselves: uncertainties in parenting, recurring conflicts, separation, life as a single parent, growing together as a blended family. Family life always presents challenges; that's normal. But if you feel that family challenges or changes are weighing you down, then it's worth seeking family counseling. An old Chinese proverb says, "Everything has three sides: one you see, one I see, and one neither of us sees." My role is to help you gain precisely this perspective. No challenge is too small; on the contrary, seeking help early usually leads to faster results. Often, just a few sessions and small steps are enough to resolve tensions. The more entrenched a situation is, the more work it requires.
As a systemic family therapist, I support people on their journey to a more harmonious and fulfilling family life. Together, we get to the root of the issues and find new, creative solutions that suit you and your family. I consider the entire family system, so other significant people are welcome in addition to you. This could be the other biological parent (even if you are separated!), stepparents, grandparents, or anyone else who is important to you. How we work together varies from family to family.
My approach is fundamentally solution- and resource-oriented. This means I'm convinced that you are the experts on your own family and already possess the solution within yourselves. Currently, you simply can't access it. Every family is unique and brings its own individual strengths. The goal is to use various methods and materials, along with my clarity and experience, to help you rediscover these strengths and problem-solving skills. Therefore, in addition to your challenges, I'm also interested in what's already working well and what you'd like to maintain.
Furthermore, it always makes sense to reflect on your own values and parenting goals. For example, if you want your child to set boundaries, think for themselves, and not become a typical "follower," then the question arises of how you can guide them on this path. With the standard answer, "Because I said so," or do you allow questions from the beginning and have age-appropriate conversations with your child? Again and again? And yes, this isn't "the easy way." On the contrary. A child who simply functions and does what you want would be more convenient: less discussion, less stress. But then you have to ask yourself: "What does this bring me in the short term, and what does it cost me in the long term? My child and our relationship?" This path requires clarity above all. So that a misunderstood attachment- and relationship-oriented parenting style doesn't inadvertently turn into laissez-faire. The authoritative parenting style is characterized by a lot of love and closeness on the one hand AND guidance and structure on the other.
If needed, I can also give you insights into child development and what children can do at what age, or indeed what they cannot (yet).
Let's take the first step in a positive direction together. In an atmosphere of trust and respect, I will help you recognize your individual needs and discover new paths that feel right and authentic for you. Not the way "it's usually done," but individually, concretely, and in line with your reality.
If you'd like to work with me, please get in touch. In a free 30-minute introductory call, we can discuss your needs and how a collaboration could work.
I'm looking forward to seeing you. You all.
PS: It's important to me that every family receives the support they need. If the costs are a hurdle for you, please don't hesitate to contact me. Together we'll definitely find a solution that works for both of us.
