Anja Pachzelt

Hello, I'm Anja,

Born in 1983, married, mother of two sons. We live in the beautiful Rheingau region, just outside Wiesbaden. I was originally from the eastern part of Germany, but have lived in Hesse since 2011 and feel very much at home here.
My main job involves baked goods and bread rolls. As a trained nutritionist, I work in a regional organic bakery when I'm not on parental leave.

I briefly dabbled in cloth diapers after the birth of our first son in 2015. As someone who grew up in East Germany, it was kind of a given: he'd be in cloth diapers! My mother gave me a ton of muslin diapers, I bought two wool pull-on diapers, and thought it couldn't be that difficult. Unfortunately, I hadn't done any further research, and so it turned out that the pull-on diapers leaked, and his onesie was always damp. Frustrated, we quickly gave up and switched to disposable diapers.

When I had my second son in 2019, I hadn't even considered using cloth diapers. However, I quickly became aware of the sheer amount of diaper waste. I hadn't realized it at all. All that diaper waste didn't align with our understanding of sustainability. So I attended a cloth diaper party and tried out the different systems myself with a sample pack. Since then, we've only used cloth diapers.

And because cloth diapers are just so much fun, I want to introduce other parents to this really great and simple alternative to disposable diapers.

I will take you by the hand, address your fears and prejudices, and show you how much fun diapering and cloth diapers can be, and that it's really not difficult at all.
