Baby tummy time and school? Where's the connection? At first glance, this might sound a bit strange to you as young parents \u2013 but it's closely linked from a developmental physiology perspective.<\/p>\n
A child's healthy motor development occurs in many different stages. And each of these stages is a success on the path to healthy development. Thus, step by step, each step builds upon the previous one.<\/p>\n
Lying on their stomach is another such motor development step. Performed even in newborns while awake, it forms the basis for many skills necessary later in life. Lifting and turning the head, supporting themselves on their elbows with the associated shifts in balance, and strengthening the shoulder and back muscles represent enormous milestones in your baby's development.<\/p>\n
If this developmental step of tummy time can occur calmly and extensively, it forms the basis for grasping objects, which is important for good fine motor skills later in school, especially for writing. It also lays the foundation for healthy head posture and good near and far vision, for example, when learning at school or looking at the blackboard. As you can see, your baby's tummy time is indeed important for daycare and school.<\/p>\n
The foundation for good perception, movement, and learning begins in the first year of life and usually happens quite naturally. In our course, we want to discuss with you what you as parents can contribute, what to pay attention to, where you can offer support, and what you might want to avoid, and inform you about this important and exciting developmental phase.<\/p>\n
